Morning!
I
just know that some of you will be able to "relate" to what I am
going to talk about today! Yes, I am going to tell another one of my
"stories" about my past, but you know what?...the Lord is
encouraging me to use my past "experiences" to bring encouragement
to someone else!
I
grew up in a denominational church, and I sang in the "choir"....I
really believe that I wanted to do that so that I could keep an eye on my two
young boys sitting in the congregation. This put me in a
position to let them know if I was "approving or dis-approving"
of their behavior, by my "facial expressions'! Now, isn't that a
great motivation to sing in the "choir"?
Anyway, what I really wanted to talk about is the fact that I
"sang" the words of all the songs....but I had no
"revelation" of the truth that was in those
"words". Now, many years later, after learning to read the
Word of God for myself (not just hearing what the Preacher had to say to us on
Sunday morning)....the words of those songs have an "effect" on me
when I sing them! I can "embrace" the truth that is
there, because now I know that the words of those songs are not just
"words"....they are the WORD OF GOD! I am not talking
about the songs that make us feel so "unworthy"....I am talking
about the songs that line up with the Word of God!
I
love the "choruses" that we sing in church today, but I also
have a "new-found" respect and reverence for some of the
"old" Hymns....so, I will be sharing some of them with you in future
"encouragements" and we can all sing them together!
