Good Morning!
I am really enjoying the direction that The Lord has taken with the
encouragements this week. It is amazing to me, how He can take one verse
from a song, and give us so much insight and understanding of what it is
saying!
Yesterday, we looked into, and talked about, the first line...'tis so sweet to
trust in Jesus...so now, let's go to the second line of that
verse>>>>"just to take Him at His word". In
order for us to really trust in Him, we have to believe in the integrity of His
Word.
Integrity is part of God's nature and character, and He has given us His Spirit
to enable us to be partakers of His divine nature! However, sad to say, but many Christians have not developed in
this area. If we do not place value and importance on "keeping our
word", then it is going to be hard for us to trust God to keep His.
The rest of the verse says, "Just to rest upon His promise; just to know
thus saith The Lord." There is a place of "rest" for
those who are truly "trusting" in The Lord to do what He has promised
in His word that He will do! If we are still "struggling", then
we are not "resting"...it is impossible to do both at the same time!
Hebrews 4:10 tells us that we cannot enter in to the rest that God has for us
as long as we are trying to work everything out in our own strength (we have to
cease from our own labors). Then in
verse 11, we see that the reason why the children of Israel were not able to
enter in to that rest, was because of their doubt, fear and unbelief! (I
encourage you to read these scriptures).
After all that we have been shown about this verse of song, I want us to sing
it again, this time "thinking about what it says"!
'TIS SO SWEET TO TRUST IN
JESUS;
JUST TO TAKE HIM AT HIS WORD.
JUST TO REST UPON HIS PROMISE;
JUST TO KNOW, THUS SAITH THE
LORD!
Have a Blessed
Day!!
In His Love, Luanne
