Good morning!
It's my turn to be Luanne's helper. Galatians 6:2 tells
us to "Bear one another's burden, and so fulfill the Law
of Christ". That's not to say that preparing these
messages is a burden to Luanne at all . . . but it IS
only a part of this ministry. And lately, the other
aspects of the ministry have grown tremendously - PRAISE
GOD! Those "other aspects", coupled with the
responsibility to prepare these messages, simply caused
an overload on her schedule.
Friends,
Luanne is fine; and she'll be back to writing her
own encouragements next week. She's just focusing on
some other aspects of the ministry right now. I
love Luanne and I love Christ. Based on Galatians 6:2,
if I am to be obedient - I must help her.
And since I have already used this verse, and it was a
source of confusion to me at one time, I want to take
this opportunity to teach on what appears to be a
contradiction in this Chapter of the Bible. While the
2nd verse tells us to bear one another's burdens - the
5th verse tells us that each person should bear his own
load. Sounds contradictory doesn’t it? Well, it’s not
really confusing at all in the original Greek. The
original Greek word used for "burden" in verse 2 meant
something like an overwhelming load (responsibility or
task) - while the word for "load" in verse 5 means
something more like a knapsack and refers to the normal
responsibilities of daily living. So the "loads" and
"burdens" Paul is referring to in this chapter are two
different things and would have been easily understood
by those he was speaking to at that time. As God's
beloved children, when we see that the "task at hand"
has grown too large for one person to bear alone, we do
have a responsibility to help whoever is bearing the
burden of that task. In this case, it is my JOY
to do so - because I DO love the Lord, and I love Luanne
. . . and I love YOU too!
The words "fulfill the law" or "fulfill the law and the
prophets" has come up several times in the verses used
in the messages of those of us here at T.O.D.A.Y.
Ministries over the last few weeks - and we did not know
what the others were
writing about!
Every verse quoted, has had at it’s
core the admonition to love God and to love one another.
It seems to me that the Holy Spirit might have something
to say to us about this seeming coincidence - which I
will pursue further on Wednesday.
Have a very blessed Day!
