Morning!
I
remember when I was young (Oops! I meant to say...when I was
"younger").
Anyway,
at that time..."riddles" were the THING! Everybody wanted to
ask you to answer a "riddle". They expected you to
"strain your brain" and come up with an answer that
nobody else had. For example...they would ask "Why did the chicken
cross the road"? Instead of us just coming up with the
"obvious" answer, we felt like we should think really deep...and
"analyze" and "rationalize". We never took time
to "realize" that the answer was so SIMPLE!
Why
did the chicken cross the road? The answer is....(all
together now)....TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE! Can you see the
"simplicity" here? I know some of you are
thinking..."What in the world has this got to do with
anything"? Well, think about it....isn't this what we have a
tendency to do with God's Word?
His
message to us is so "simple", so why do we try to complicate
it by "analyzing" and "rationalizing"? For
example...He says that "if you believe in your heart, and confess with
your mouth that Jesus is Lord and that God has raised Him from the dead...then
you will be saved"! (Romans 10:9, paraphrased). It is just that
"simple"! Don't try to "figure it out"! God's
Word is not given to us as a "riddle"...it is very plain and simple!
I
am going to continue to talk about some other scriptures from God's Word
that we may be trying to complicate~~~~~~
