Good
Morning!
Well...I
showed up for work, and my Bible is open to 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8! So,
let's roll! We are in verse 5, and we have already talked about
some things that LOVE is "not". To recap, LOVE is not arrogant
and full of pride . . . and LOVE is not "rude"! I just
know that you think about the "rude" part of that lesson every time
you order a hamburger!
Question:
Do you ever get upset if you don't get "your" way? You know
the old song that goes ~~~~ nobody loves me . . . everybody hates me . . .
I'm going to the garden and eat worms! Do you sometimes feel like
that? Do you ever "fold those arms" and start
"pouting"? Come on now . . . be honest! Check your
answer Yes___ No___
The
next thing that verse five tells us is that LOVE is not touchy, fretful or
resentful. Let's take these one at a time. Touchy (easily
provoked). Are there certain "people" or certain
"things" that people say to you that just RUB YOU
THE WRONG WAY?
Question:
Are you touchy? Check your answer
Yes___ No___ Sometimes___
Next
one....Fretful (irritable). When you allow
yourself to get "irritated", then you will get
"aggravated" and it won't be long until you are
"agitated"! Now you are all "stirred up" and the only
thing you are going to "stir up" is STRIFE! What
a vicious "cycle" (excuse the pun)!
Question:
Are you ever fretful (irritable)? Check your answer
Yes___ No___
Next one....Resentful (bitter). This
kind of attitude is "hazardous to your health"! I encourage
you to read Hebrews 12:15...it tells us that if we hold "resentment"
in our hearts toward someone, it will become a "root" of bitterness
and even hatred! It takes "roots" to produce
"fruit", and the fruit that the root of bitterness produces is NOT
the kind of "fruit" that LOVE produces! This verse in Hebrews
tells us that the "fruit" that resentment and bitterness produces
is: "trouble, torment, contamination and defilement"! YUCK!!!
Who needs that? So, before I get to the "Question", let
me say this....all of us have been tempted to be "resentful and
bitter", but after finding out how harmful it can be to ourselves
and to others, and after finding out that it is in total
"disobedience" to God's Love Commandment; shouldn't we make a
decision to not allow "resentment" to grow it's "roots" in
us?
Question: Are you
willing to allow The Holy Spirit to remove all "resentment" and
"bitterness" from you? Check your answer
Yes___ No___
Remember, I will not be
here on Thursday . . . . but I will be back on Friday!
Because He
lives, I can face tomorrow; because Jesus lives, all my fear is gone!
And because I know, yes I know He holds my future . . . . .
. . ( I will
finish this Friday ).
Have
a Blessed Day!! ( LOVE never
"fails"!) In His
Love, Luanne
