Good Morning!
What will you be wearing
today? (text message: Ephesians 6:
11 - 18)
We have talked about some of the garments that
are in our spiritual closet . . . things that The Lord
has given us and tells us to "put on". We have talked
about the "garment of Praise" and the "Robe of
Righteousness" and now we are looking at all the
different parts of the "Armor of God". That armor comes
with a "belt", a "vest" a "hat", some "shoes" and more.
We have already found our "belt of Truth" and put
it on, so now let's find our "vest". Some of you "guys"
might want to think of it as your "bullet-proof vest"!
It
is called the "breastplate" of Righteousness . . . and
this is different from our "robe" of righteousness, in
the sense that here . . . The Lord is talking about HIS
righteousness (His way of being right and doing what is
right). Of course, ALL "righteousness" is of God, but
our "robe" is to remind us that we are the
"righteousness of God" so that we can KNOW who we are in
Christ Jesus! It lets us know that we have been MADE
righteous because of what Jesus did for us, not because
of anything that we have done! We have to KNOW that, in
order to have the "authority" that the ROBE signifies!
However, the "breastplate" that comes with the armor of
God is the "righteousness of God" that Jesus was
speaking about in Matthew 6: 33, when He told us to
"seek first the Kingdom of God and HIS righteousness".
We don't have to "seek" for OUR righteousness . . . we
just have to "RECEIVE" it! Jesus was telling us to
"seek" for God's way of "being right and doing right"!
It is all about walking in "integrity, strict honesty,
moral principles, and doing what is right" . . .
in other words ~~~ taking on the "character and nature"
of God!
Now, with all of that in mind . . . when you put
on your "vest" (which is the breastplate that verse 4
talks about), you will be protected from the
devil's "temptation bullets" that would try to get you
to a place of "compromise"! If this sounds
"complicated" to you, then I encourage you do what The
Lord tells you to do in Matthew 6:33 (Amp.Bible) . . .
He makes it very "simple" in that scripture! He also
talks about the "rewards" that will come from your
"seeking"! I believe that you will find the
"simplicity" of what your "vest" really means to you
when you "put it on"!
I think that we will put our "shoes" on next
~~~~~ See you Friday!
